1st Tidworth is a dynamic Scout Group that helps nearly 80 young people (and growing on a weekly bases) enjoy having fun and fantastic adventures while developing skills for life.

With two Beaver Scout Colonies, a Cub Scout Pack and a Scout Troop, our friendly leadership team are always kept busy and open to new members joining the team.

Here are just some of the things you could help us with and make all the difference to help us achieving our goal to give every young person the best possible scouting experience ever.

Please see below some of the roles we need helpers to take on the challenge and support your Local Scout Group: –

Section Assistant

Make a bird box; transform a future.

Would you like the chance to canoe, climb and make bird boxes while improving your CV? As a Section Assistant in the 1st Tidworth Scout Group, you will do all of this and more, using your current skills and learning new ones.

We now need a fun, committed person to support young people, helping run games and activities as part of weekly meetings. As part of a small team, you will be plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, helping them achieve badges and awards.

Enthusiasm, an empathy with young people and a sense of humour are a must. But we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you all the way and ensure

you get the training and support you need.

Group Secretary

 Help keep us in line join us as Group Secretary

Are you a natural organiser? Do you know what’s happening, not just next week, but next month and year too? Is your electronic diary always perfectly in synch? If this sounds like

you, then we’d love you to consider supporting us as Group Secretary. A great communicator, team player and problem solver, you’ll be as good a listener as you are at taking accurate minutes and reminding us of our rules.

We’re only able to help young people step up, play their part, and gain great skills when our groups are well managed and run. A Group Secretary is absolutely essential to this, which is why, as one of our trustees, you will be responsible, supportive and have our best interest at heart at all times. In return you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re helping us prepare so many more young people for the future.

Assistant Leader

Ever needed an extra pair of hands?

Well, so do we! Want the chance to go canoeing, climbing, or camping? Then why not come and have ago and lend us your hands. We need support in running our sessions whether that’s canoeing or a games night

All you need is enthusiasm, empathy, and a good sense of humour. Everything else we can teach you. 1st Tidworth

Fundraiser

Are you a Money Maker-Maker Extraordinaire?

 

Are you fizzing with fundraising ideas? Are you equally at home organising a cake sale as a sponsored Digital Detox? Then we need your energy and initiative to help us. 1st Tidworth Scouts now need a group fundraiser to help support our activities and improve our facilities. Raising extra funds means we can provide a wider range of exciting opportunities to our young people. With experience of organising fundraising appeals, you won’t be afraid to get stuck in with anything from a car wash to helping a sponsored triathlon go swimmingly!

No specific time commitment is required, and the role is flexible enough to fit around you. We’ll provide full support and training, a sociable network, plus it all looks great on your CV. 1st Tidworth

Section Leader

Help Deliver Skills for Life

Would you like the chance to go camping, climbing, potholing, lead community projects while helping prepare young people with skills for life? As a section leader you will do all of this and more, using your skills and learning new ones.

As part of 1st Tidworth Scout Group, you will be plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, making sure every young person gets the chance to spend at least one night away each year.

You’ll use your energy and creativity to help young people have fun, develop their potential, and earn a wide range of badges and awards, including the prestigious Chief Scout Awards. Of course, you won’t have to do this alone – a team of supporters, parents and the young people themselves will help you plan and deliver the programme. But it’s your enthusiasm and sense of fun and adventure that will inspire them. 1st Tidworth

As Scouts we prepare young people with skills for life. Each year we help over 460,000 boys and girls enjoy fun and adventure while developing skills to succeed. If you choose to volunteer, you can work directly with young people or in a support role as a team or individual. Prior experience or a connection with Scouting is not necessary and we welcome people from different backgrounds. Remember, you can decide how much or little time you give to Scouting.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
